The place is very clean and close to the beach and all the shops and restaurants. If you know the area well and can get around, don't jesitate to stay at the shore haven. This is one of the reason, we stay for a minimum of 1time a year at this resort. He was fine with reservations and payment but had some WEIRD requests. He sent a salad back because it was "too green". Then he asked us to make the shower less powerful. If you call yelling at your guests being civil, then you're in the wrong business. I would have been more than willing to pay for the extra day ,even though I was not going to be there, IF this person would have been friendly and cordial.His first reaction when I explained that we needed to leave a day earlier, was to yell at me for not letting him know before he charged my card and that he would have to pay some penalty for that. Again, I would have paid for the day, my family and I , including my 84 year old dad had traveled for 2 days, the only thing I wanted was to get them into their rooms ASAP, not argue and get yelled at for cutting our stay short one day and then have my reservation cancelled because of this.Did not enjoy looking for another hotel at 10:00pm at night after the long trip. Oh well, you live and learn.I will stick to the known name hotels next time.I will not go thru similar experience again.Absolutely ridiculous way to treat customers. Jose New York, NY USA - Monday, July 21, 2003 at 14:06:13 (EDT) SHORE HAVEN RESPONSE: We have held three of our nicest and largest rooms for Mr. Colon and his family for months. Upon his arrival Mr. Colon lectured to us on how we should run our hotel regarding the payment policy. After the argument he produced his sister's credit card to pay for just one of these rooms, and when we processed this card in front of them then he told us that his stay will be shorter, and his sister refused to sign the authorization slip for the credit card. At this point he was informed that a stay of 6 nights does not qualify for a weekly rate. So he argued more and was upset about that. Then he walked out of the office on his own to "think about" it and did not return for more than 5 minutes. At which point we decided that we had enough. We take reservations seriously and we keep them, which is not without costs for us. We do not like to have reservations modified during a guest's check-in because most of the time there is no good reason why we could not have been notified of this change ahead of time so that we could have adjusted to this. We also try to maintain a level of civility at Shore Haven. We are courteous and forgiving because we know that sometimes people are grumpy after a long trip, and we take that into account when dealing with them.
